Women have often faced unique experiences and challenges in various areas. Despite those obstacles, women have achieved an encouraging number of achievements in the sciences, this trend is emerging all around the globe over the past century.

This half-day event will feature the distinguished achievements of women in the sciences. This issue will be discussed by the notable female scientists, Professor Sonia Aissa. This public speech provides a platform for relevant issues and challenges faced by women scientists.
Professor Sonia Aissa, is currently a Professor at Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique (INRS), University of Quebec, Montreal, Canada. She obtained her Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McGill University, Montreal, QC, Canada, in 1998. With her current focus on cognitive radio networks, she also specialises in wireless communications, including radio resource management, cross-layer design, and cooperative transmission techniques. Professor Sonia Aissa is also the Founding Chair of the Montreal Chapter IEEE Women in Engineering Society. Further, she was also a special guest juror for the Stars of Science, a TV programme initiated by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development.
